Dooley-O Watch My Moves. Publish date: Mar 25, 2003. A few less-than-stellar rhyming moments can't overshadow how important-and good-this album is. Breakbeat legend and erstwhile Stezo producer Dooley recorded it back in the late '80s, and as a production showcase, it's fantastic. Dooley was touching some amazing grooves before other folks made them famous-witness the title track, the first ever usage of the legendary Skull Snaps break even before Stezo jacked it for "It's My Turn," for example
Hot steps - passi caldi (original title). PG-13 1h 38min 11 November 1990 (Italy). We have to be awesome if we want to win!" Though rich brat Kevin is clearly a douche and though his dance moves are clearly cribbed from Vanilla Ice, he hits upon the very truth of what Body Moves and by extension life, is all about. Like some sort of toolish Knute Rockne whipping the boys into a Gipper-inspired frenzy at halftime of the big game, Kevin (or Kev-In as the license plates on his pansy red sports car read) reaches deep into the very shallow souls of his fellow dance team members to wring all the laughably spastic moves out of them that will be necessary.
It made for an album that could appeal to everyone from new age receptionists to dubheads to prog-rock pharmacists. Lest it be forgotten, this is also one of the most supremely hypnotizing drug albums ever. There are more rocket launches here than a New Years' Eve Kiss concert in Los Alamos. Even in the blacklit genre of trip-hop, nothing hit the low register like the pulses of the brooding "Angel" or the choked-out, smoked-out vocals on "Risingson". But what saves this from being a mere opium drip soundtrack are the flashes of pop: the subtle hooks, the dependable songwriting, and- most of all- the spare use of Elizabeth Fraser's high vocal wisps.
