Freedom of Choice is the third studio album by the American new wave band Devo. It was originally released in May 1980 on the label Warner Bros. The album contained their biggest hit to date, "Whip It". Freedom of Choice was recorded between October 1979 and early 1980, at the Record Plant in Hollywood, California. The album saw the band moving in more of an overt synthpop direction, even though guitars still played a prominent role.

Freedom of choice Is what you got Freedom of choice. Then if you got it, you don't want it Seems to be a rule of thumb Don't be tricked by what you see You got two ways to go. I'll say it again, in the land of the free Use your freedom of choice Freedom of choice. Freedom of choice Is what you got Freedom of choice. In ancient Rome There was a poem About a dog Who found two bones He peeked at one He licked the other He went in circles Then he dropped dead. Title track from the 1980’s album (3rd one in their career) is also the last single from it. "Freedom Of Choice" Track Info. Written By Gerald Casale & Mark Mothersbaugh. It contains Devo's most well-known song, "Whip I. This album is the third that they made in 78-81, and is an important album in their discography. The themes of the lyrics and sound style Devo's music was affiliated with the synth pop movement of the 1980's, but their sound was more unique and distinct than the rest of the synth pop.

On May 16th, 1980 DEVO released their third studio album Freedom of Choice, an album that saw the quirky post-punk band evolve into a more synth-pop driven outfit, while still using trace amounts of stylized guitars. The album was also the debut of the band’s trademark red energy dome helmets, as seen on the record’s sleeve.
