In 1951, A&R man Ike Turner was able to get Bland signed to Modern Records. Between 1951 and 1952, he recorded commercially unsuccessful singles for Modern and Sun Records (which licensed its recordings to Chess Records). However, these records caught the attention of Duke Records. Bland's recordings from the early 1950s show him striving for individuality, but his progress was halted for two years while he served in the . When Bland returned to Memphis in 1954, several of his former assoc. to craft the melodic big-band blues singles for which he became famous, often accompanied by the guitarist Wayne Bennett Commercial success.
Robert Patrick Lalonde (born March 27, 1951 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired professional ice hockey player drafted 17th overall in the second round of the 1971 NHL entry draft. He played 641 games in the National Hockey League from 1971 to 1982. During his career he accumulated 124 goals, 210 assists for a total of 334 points.

Bobby Lalonde is a Canadian musician originating from the Ottawa Valley (Eastern Ontario). Garolou is a French Canadian folk-rock group created in 1975. It was originally called Lougarou, but had to change its name after being sued by a dance troup named Les Loups-garous. In 1993 the band made a return supported by many concerts each year. The band performed at many music festivals such as the Festival International d'été de Québec and the Festival franco ontarien. The band released in 1997 a live album called Réunion that captured Garolou's live experience and, two years later, a brand new album called Mémoire Vive.
