The control voltage typically controls pitch and the gate signal controls note on-off.
Just think of CV/GATE has a monophonic alternative to MIDI. It lets one device communicate with another but it does so using voltage instead of a digital signal. The advantage is that there's almost no latency, so timing is significantly tighter with CV vs. MIDI. The disadvantages are calibration issues; V-scale issues; monophonic only; and you'll need an analog sequencer to really take advantage of the power. CV is a variable voltage, that directly affects the pitch of a note. The higher the voltage, the higher the pitch. Thats 2 fairly basic concepts for CV. Think of gate as a square wave. Its either on or its off. When you hit a key, it sends an on command.
The album was released on October 1, 2015 on band leader Michael Gira's Young God Records. Limited to 2500 copies, the album served as a fundraiser for The Glowing Man. The Gate was offered in a double-CD format. The album features six live recordings, with four of them being previously unreleased tracks set to be included in the next studio album
Zeph February 09, 2017 09:59. Hi, Just an idea: it will be cool if for the Cv configuration one can choose between V/Oct (Roland, Moog ), Hz/Oct (Korg. ), . 2V/Oct or . 6V/Oct (EMS) Too, for the gate format: postive, négative, pulse (with pulse width modification). It will be simple to implement those on the soft. I'm very excited to see how analog equipment will be implemented with the MPC X's CV/Gate Outs. Can't wait to start syncing everything up! Thank you for your feedback!
Other Interfaces may not be calibrated properly. You will need to adjust the KeyNote to Audio Out1 AMOUNT values on the Thor modulation matrix. Try adjusting the -29 value, and play octaves until you get a proper note division. AMOUNT Values of 79 and -17 might be more appropriate in some cases. I have not tested this with an S-Trig system like a vintage minimoog, and I suspect that it will not work properly. As I try out new configurations, I will post updates. I’ve tested the file with an Oberheim Two-Voice and CPS-1, and an ARP 2600.
